Sterile Processing Technician Program

 

The Sterile Processing Technician program consists of 120 hours theory and 200 hours of clinical externship. The curriculum is designed to provide qualified individuals an opportunity to acquire the knowledge, attitudes and skills, which will enable them top become safe and competent Sterile Processing technicians.

The theoretical portion has 120 hours of didactic and skills lab, where the students' knowledge and skills are developed in the following areas: medical terminology , anatomy and physiology, microbiology, infection control and prevention, government regulations and syandards, instrument identification,decontamination and cleaning, sterilization, packaging and storage, inventory management,quality assurance, and safety.

Course Requirements
  Must be at least 17 years old
  Must have a high school diploma, GED or pass ATB examination
  Must be able to read and understand English
  Must possess a valid California ID and Social Security Number
  Must pass a physical exam and TB screening performed by your physician or Nurse Practitioner
  Must pass the fingerprinting and criminal background screening
  A completed live scan
  A completed HS 283B application form
